Will Butler Shares Two New Songs, Announces Tour

Butler and his band will play Toronto and Montreal this August

Will Butler has shared two new songs called "A Stranger's House" and "Nearer to Thee," his first new solo music since announcing his departure from Arcade Fire in March.

"A Stranger's House" comes attached to an eerily charged video directed by Butler. The song is a menacing, piano-lead groove that hums at a low simmer without ever fully releasing, while "Nearer to Thee" is a blustery, shaggy rocker. There's no further info on forthcoming music, though it seems likely that something bigger is on the way.

Alongside the singles, Butler has announced a short tour that'll take him to Toronto and Montreal this August.

Butler announced that he'd quit Arcade Fire shortly after the band announced their seventh full-length WE. Around the time of the album's release, his brother Win said, "I love Will. He's my only brother and he's always had interests that transcend music. I think that he sort of followed his big brother into this band. It was his first job. He's got three young children, and [my wife] Regine and I are able to bring our child on the road. But I think that if I wasn't, there's things way more important than music."
