While Wilco may be "slowly chipping away at a new record," that doesn't mean they've left the past behind: in celebration of their fabled fourth studio album's 20th anniversary, they're reissuing Yankee Hotel Foxtrot with a deluxe campaign — featuring a boatload of previously unheard rarities.
The Yankee Hotel Foxtrot reissue arrives September 16 via Nonesuch. Between the Deluxe and Super Deluxe pressings, the tally of unreleased tracks being released from the Wilco vault is a grand total of 82, as per Stereogum's math.
The 11-LP Super Deluxe edition features a remastering of the original 11-track album, plus six LPs of session outtakes, alternates, demos, drafts and instrumentals; a 1-CD WXRT radio interview and live performances from September 18, 2001; and a 3-LP live show from July 23, 2002, at the Pageant in St. Louis, MO. Meanwhile, the 7-LP regular-degular Deluxe includes the remastered original tracks and just one alternate version of the album (titled The Unified Theory of Everything) alongside the radio show appearance and live set from St. Louis.
Amid a run of shows playing the 2001 album in full, the band also just appeared on Stephen Colbert's The Late Show to perform "Poor Places" with string ensemble Aizuri Quartet.
