After taking on Steve Lacy's "Bad Habit" in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge earlier this month, Wet Leg are back with another new cover — as well as a rework of "Convincing" — recorded with James Ford for Spotify Singles.

The Isle of Wight band led by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers recorded a rendition of "Daisy" by Ashnikko for the series. One of Teasdale's lockdown jams, the song from the American artist's 2021 album DEMIDEVIL soundtracked the pair's initial foray into songwriting together.

"I remember going to stay with Rhian around the time we recorded 'Chaise' with Jon McMullen and she had told me about this artist she'd been listening to loads," Chambers recalled in a statement. "She sang and played 'Daisy' on the guitar in the morning while we had coffee. It feels like another little circle coming round in our Wet Leg world getting to make this cover."

Of their self-titled debut (one of Exclaim!'s Best Albums of 2022 So Far), "Convincing" is the only Wet Leg song that features Chambers on lead vocals. The new recording embraces the full-band arrangement the act has fleshed out amid their extensive touring this year.

"'Convincing' is one of the songs that has gone through a little shape-shift over time as we've been playing gigs for the last year," Chambers added. "This version we recorded with James leans into the more mellow and woozy world it exists in our live sets."
