The Weeknd to Release Mixtape Trilogy as Expanded Set

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 27, 2011

The Weeknd didn't take any time off over the holidays, as the reclusive Toronto R&B singer known as Abel Tesfaye dropped Echoes of Silence last week (December 21), thereby completing the mixtape trilogy that also includes previously released collections House of Balloons and Thursday. Now that he's made such a massive splash in the blogosphere, the Weeknd will kick off 2012 by giving his mixtapes a deluxe re-release.

In a tweet posted on Christmas Day (December 25), Tesfaye wrote, "I can't wait to re-release The Trilogy as a package, re-mastered for you to collect with bonus features... #2012."

How exactly this will turn out is anyone's guess, but it looks like Tesfaye is most likely considered a multi-CD package containing all 27 remastered tracks from the trilogy plus possibly a few extra tunes or extra goodies.

Whatever the case, it looks like we're probably going to be getting a long-awaited physical release from the Weeknd in the coming months. It's about time.
