The Weekend

Beatbox My Heartbeat

BY Emily KendyPublished May 1, 2005

This is pop music at its gummiest, which is unsurprising on an album produced by John Wozniak (Marcy Playground). This would make great teen-movie segue music — where she’s walking down a high school hallway in slow motion with hair swaying as people stare on in envy — but singer Andrea Wasse is already all over it. Songs are featured in teen flicks like Brittany Murphy’s Uptown Girls, and Disney’s Freaky Friday. The fourth song on the album, "Kick Myself,” redeems their possible rock aspirations with an edge like the Donnas. The rest makes me want to jump around on my bed in my undies singing into my hairbrush.
