Torch song minimalists The xx have an album called I See You due out on January 13 via Young Turks. Last night (November 19), the British trio gave fans a taste of what's in store by performing a couple of cuts from the new album on Saturday Night Live (hosted by Kristen Wiig).
They played the single "On Hold" plus the previously unheard "I Dare You." These performances preserved the group's signature pop-noir sound, as vocalists Romy Madly Croft and Oliver Sim crooned on characteristically smouldering duets. The tunes also highlighted the club influences of Jamie xx's solo work, and the singers showed off some epically dorky dance moves.
Check out the performances below. Be warned that the audio on "I Dare You" is a little glitchy.
Meanwhile, The xx have scheduled European and South American tours. They don't have any North American shows scheduled just yet.
