Watch the Flaming Lips Cover David Bowie's "Space Oddity" on 'Colbert'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Apr 20, 2016

The Flaming Lips paid homage to the late, great David Bowie last week with a video for their rendition of "Space Oddity." Just last night (April 19), the band took that same cover song to the television-watching masses with a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Wayne Coyne and co. were wacky as ever, donning sparkly garland and green wigs amidst a sea of colourful projections. They were even joined by some special guests in the form of an astronaut and Chewbacca. Naturally, things get weird real quick.

Check out the performance in the player below, and scroll beyond that to watch another clip from the same show in which Coyne sings about his musical influences and some, uh, learning experiences from his past.
