Rufus and Martha Wainwright are up there with Tegan and Sara and Catherine and Mary Margaret O'Hara as some of Canada's most important siblings, and luckily for us, they sing together often.
Earlier this year, Rufus shared Folkocracy, his covers album that featured collaborations with the likes of Chaka Khan, ANOHNI, David Byrne, Sheryl Crow, and, of course, Martha.
In keeping the spirit of that covers album — and the holidays — alive, Rufus and Martha appeared on The Tonight Show to perform a rendition of Sufjan Stevens's "Justice Delivers Its Death" from 2012's Silver & Gold.
It's a lovely performance, and it's not the first time the song has been tackled by a Wainwright — Rufus performed "Justice Delivers Its Death" with Stevens at the Wainwrights' Noel Nights event in New York City back in 2018, which was also the last time Stevens performed live.
This year, Stevens released Javelin, one of Exclaim!'s favourite albums of 2023.
