When Paper Bag Records announced their coast-to-coast 20th anniversary celebrations, they promised "special guests" to close their Toronto show on March 5. They certainly delivered on that promise — the night finished with garage rock duo PS I Love You playing their first set since 2016.

Guitarist/vocalist Paul Saulnier and drummer Benjamin Nelson dusted off their old tunes for a set that was heavy on their 2010 debut album Meet Me at the Muster Station alongside choice cuts from 2011's early EPs and singles compilation Figure It Out, 2012 sophomore album Death Dreams and their most recent release, 2014's For Those Who Stay.

It was as if no time had passed at all, with the set featuring Saulnier's trademark guitar histrionics (including some set-ending, behind-the-head shredding) and self-effacing banter, and Nelson's relentless drumming. There was also plenty of gratitude toward their longtime label and team.

According to Saulnier during the set, the pair had only practiced the set the day before, with no further hints as to whether or not this reunion will lead to more shows or new material. Regardless, it was great to have them back, even if only for a night.

Check out some footage of the band playing "Facelove," "Meet Me at the Muster Station" and "Sentimental Dishes" below.

Since PS I Love You's hiatus began, Nelson has played drums for Kingston trio Deux Trois, while Saulnier has played with the likes of Dorothea Paas and Rogue Tenant.
