A busy burst of live music in Vancouver inevitably meant a packed weekend of work for Canada's favourite music journalist Nardwuar the Human Serviette, and he has two new interviews with Lil Pump and Australian psych rockers King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard to show for it.
Stopping in Vancouver as part of their current North American tour, King Gizzard were interviewed by Nardwuar in the lush greenery of Vancouver's Stanley Park. Gifts for the group included an original Yes concert pamphlet, a signed Sonics concert poster and local pressings of their own Polygondwanaland LP.
Nardwuar's interview with Lil Pump is short, yet sweet, in large part thanks to the tam-topped journalist's willingness to adopt the "Gucci Gang" rapper's "eskeddit" catch phrase.
The two talk about Pump's history of stage dives at the Vogue Theatre, getting kicked out of school and how there are hundreds of artists with the "Lil" prefix coexisting on streaming platforms. To Nardwuar's final point, the rapper born Gazzy Garcia replied, "800 Lils, but there's only one Lil Pump, and that's me, bitch."
