Kendrick Lamar closed his recent surprise drop "The Heart Part 4" with a warning shot to rappers the world over, saying, "y'all got 'til April the 7th to get y'all shit together." Now, the hip-hop icon is applying the pressure even more with another surprise single, "Humble."
Accompanied by a video, the new track finds Kendrick continuing his brash and boastful lyricism over a bassy beat marked by stomping piano, produced by Mike WiLL Made-It. He calls on his adversaries to "be humble, sit down," adding further challenges such as "Who that n***a thinkin' that he frontin' on man man / Get the fuck off my stage, I'm the sandman."
As for the visuals themselves, Kendrick is found in religious garb one minute, then on a table piled with money and scantily-clad accountants the next. He also gets a few golf swings in from the top of a car, and posts up at the dinner table in a scene reminiscent of da Vinci's The Last Supper. The video was directed by Dave Meyers & the Little Homies (Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment president Dave Free).
While we await whatever Lamar plans on unveiling next month, take in the video for "Humble" in the player below.
