Virgin Fest 2009 Trekking Across Canada

BY Josiah HughesPublished May 12, 2009

Since launching in 2006, the Virgin Music Festival has brought a mixed bag of exciting acts and unnecessary rock stars to various venues across Canada, and now, in its third year, the fest is bigger than ever. While last year saw the festival's Vancouver date fall through, Virgin is promising the 2009 edition to include five separate festivals across Canada.

Details are a little scarce but we have been promised shows in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia, on top of the Montreal stops, confirmed for June 19 and 20. Line-ups for these events are still pending but the Montreal fest is said to include performances by marquee stars like Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Simple Plan, Hedley and, er, New Kids on the Block, while the Virgin Festival in Nova Scotia on July 4 has so far roped in the Tragically Hip, Dinosaur Jr., Metric, the Offspring, Hey Rosetta! and Plants and Animals.

Keep your eyes glued on the festival's official website and here at Exclaim! for the rest of the dates and line-ups to be announced.
