With Labour Day Weekend but only a few weeks away, organizers behind Vancouver's annual Victory Square Block Party have unveiled the lineup details behind the DIY music community's unofficial last bash of summer.

This year's party takes place September 4 at the Downtown Eastside's Victory Square, with the lineup reflecting a cross-section of rising local talent, from punk acts to folkies to hip-hop outfits. Curated by CiTR and organizers behind the Music Waste festival, the roster for the all-day and all-ages free event includes Mourning Coup, So Loki, Jody Glenham and the Dreamers, Milk, Tough Customer, Pale Red, Swim Team and SBDC.

As in year's past, proceeds from event sponsors and a day-of raffle will go towards supporting Megaphone, a Vancouver publication dedicated to issues in the Downtown Eastside.

"The Victory Square Block Party does an incredible job helping bridge communities in the Downtown Eastside while building something that everyone can feel a part of," Megaphone executive director Sean Condon said in a statement.

He added: "Along with supporting Megaphone's vendor program, it really is about being inclusive towards all in the neighbourhood, no matter your background. The Block Party has become a community asset — one that everyone can be proud of."

In addition to the music, the Victory Square Block Party will host a handful of local food carts on-site, while raffles held throughout the day will be giving away items and prizes donated by several local businesses.
