Vancouver experimental pop songwriter des hume has been teasing the album FM.era for more than two years now, having shared the single "Shockerbaby" in March 2021. Now, the artist has formally announced the album, which will be out June 23.

The album was self-produced at des hume's garden suite apartment from 2019–2022. FM.era was mastered by Philip Gosselin at Le Lab Montreal. The title was inspired by a childhood fascination with the radio.

"It's a joyous game of dress-up, trying on genres and identity, exploring sex, fear, perversion, anger, love and gender through a carousel of sound," des hume explained in a statement. "I made this album to satisfy my own Gemini spirit, never content with any one thing. I made my version of a pop record, and I look forward to what comes next. This is the ephemera of my hard drive."

Below, watch music videos for the futuristic art-pop tunes "HOO-AH" and "onetwostep," the latter of which features Juicelover.

Vinyl pre-orders for FM.era are available here. Interestingly, "Shockerbaby" didn't end up making the album.
