Vancouver's Chains of Love Offer Up Debut Seven-Inch

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 25, 2011

As of right now, Vancouver-based garage rockers gone soul revivalists Chains of Love have only played a few shows, but the troupe are already starting to make an impact locally and abroad. The group, made up of current and ex-members of You Say Party, Hard Feelings, Mode Moderne and more, have announced their debut seven-inch.

Toronto imprint Hi-Scores Recording Library just pressed the outfit's premiere platter. "You Got It" is featured on the A-side, while the flip hosts a number called "Black Hearts." Both tracks feature "wall of sound"-style production full of reverberated guitars, thudding Motown bass lines and girl-group vocal harmonies, all of which anchored by vocalist Nathalia Pizarro's epically heartbreaking wails.

Only 500 copies have been pressed, with 100 featuring hand-designed jackets that will only be available at the band's shows, 200 on white vinyl and the remainder on black vinyl.

You can download the castanet-driven sock-hop ballad "Black Hearts" here. You can also stream "You Got It" and download some other tracks for free over at the sextet's Bandcamp page.

Chains of Love are already gearing up for some out more gigs, placing them at North By Northeast and Music Waste, not to mention a couple of American shows. Check out the dates below.
