A collection of unreleased songs from Karen Dalton is being released on a new album called Shuckin' Sugar. It's arriving April 23 on vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive, followed by a CD and digital release on May 6 via Delmore Recording Society.

The album features live recordings from 1963 and 1964, with seven solo performances and five duets with Dalton's then-husband Richard Tucker. The album also includes previously unseen and rare photos, plus an essay from journalist and author Kris Needs. Pressed at Third Man, the Record Store Day vinyl edition is limited to 3,500 copies on "transparent, natural vinyl."

Shuckin' Sugar features new recordings of some Dalton classics in "Katie Cruel" and "Ribbon Bow," plus some rarities like the quasi-title track. The album is part of a resurgence of interest in Dalton's mesmerizing and highly influential music, with the documentary Karen Dalton: In My Own Time arriving last year.
