Uncle Touchy

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Violence

BY Natalie Zina WalschotsPublished Mar 13, 2012

Uncle Touchy are abrasive and chaotic post-hardcore/noise rock from Nashville, TN. Formed in 2010, these relative newcomers hope to appeal to fans of Unsane and Jesus Lizard. While they are geographically inclined towards sludge, Uncle Touchy bely their Southern roots ― there is no sludge in these musical gears. With Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Violence, they make it clear that they prefer their lube to be of the sweat and spit variety. Openly confrontational in style, Uncle Touchy's music screams in the listener's face, spattering them with bits of phlegm from the opening notes of "Body Hammer." Uncle Touchy want you to feel attacked and uncomfortable, aspiring to unsettle and rile the listener. Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Violence is looking to start a fight. "Officer Sausage Fingers" starts with slow, stalking impudence, like a pissy kid stepping on your heels, trying to instigate something. Then the song shifts gears, featuring a classic metal riff and raucous, violent pace tailor-made for a fistfight or chase scene. From start to finish, this is an album that wants to cause some shit.
