Dreamy Vancouver-based indie pop duo Twin River have released a synth-infused cover of Sloan's "The Other Man."

Featuring fuzzy yet crisp layered vocals, they refresh and repurpose the 2002 single as something that could just as easily be released today.

When nostalgia gripped the entirety of the early-pandemic world, the duo found themselves regressing to music-listening habits from 15 to 20 years ago.

"[I]t's timeless," they said of the song in a statement. "There are just so many great layers in the instrumentation of this song that are so well-placed and tasteful. It was really fun to figure it all out and put it all together."

The band added: "It's about an indie-darling love triangle from the early aughts! It could be on a pop-culture version of a Canadian Heritage Minute… speaking of nostalgia and all."

As for original material, the pair of Courtney Ewan and Andy Bishop are set to release their first new music together in over six years this summer, following 2016 sophomore LP Passing Shade.
