Last year, A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip hinted that some 25th anniversary reissues were in order for his band's seminal albums. The series is finally set to kick off with a 25th anniversary reissue of People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.
The album has been remastered from its original tapes by engineer Bob Power. The reissue will also include yet-to-be-announced remixes from contemporary hip-hop artists who site the group as a major influence.
In a press release, Q-Tip said, "I had this album in my head for years before I did it. Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16 year old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived.... But to see it in this incarnation... I'm humbled."
His bandmate Ali Shaheed Muhammad added, "This album means a lot. It was the beginning of our careers; the beginning of our imprint; the beginning of seeing life the way we saw it, and being able to put it down in words and music."
Legacy will issue the reissue of People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm on November 13. The release will mark the start of a new reissue series, with The Low End Theory presumably coming next.
