Trent Reznor Hates on Marilyn Manson, Calls Him a "Dopey Clown"

It would seem as if Trent Reznor can no longer bite his tongue. Remember when we reported that the Nine Inch Nails' main-man had nailed Apple to the wall for refusing his iPhone app? In it, we also cited his barbed words for Wal-Mart, and before that Reznor took shots - not all of which were unmerited - at the likes of Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, Prince and Chris Cornell.

Heck, Reznor's a pretty amusing dude when he's shooting from the hip, which you can witness in a new interview with Mojo. In it, Reznor verbally beats the crap out of Marilyn Manson, deeming him a "dopey clown" and calling him out for bullshitting about being as heavily into narcotics and alcohol as Manson purported to be during the 1994/1995 Downward Spiral tour when he supported Reznor.

"He is a malicious guy and will step on anybody's face to succeed and cross any line of decency," Reznor says in the interview. "Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he's become a dopey clown. He used to be the smartest guy in the room. And as a fan of his talents, I hope he gets his shit together."

"During the Spiral tour we propped them up to get our audience turned on to them and at that time a lot of the people in my circle were pretty far down the road as alcoholics. Not Manson. His drive for success and self-preservation was so high, he pretended to be fucked up a lot when he wasn't."

He continues, "Things got shitty between us and I'm not blameless. The majority of it though was coming from a resentment guy who finally got out from under the master's umbrella and was able to stab him in the back."

In case you didn't catch it, Reznor took Manson under his wing at that time and is pretty much responsible for what now stands before us. Reading between the lines, his statements would basically be him washing his hands of/apologizing for the whole debacle.

Through it all, Reznor defends his unabashedness by stating that, "I might be happy and engaged, but I'm still a prick." It's almost exciting to see who he's going to reduce to shreds next.
