Last year, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh began writing a TV show documenting the acid house era, and now he's revealed plans to release his very own acid house album.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Welsh confirmed that he was working on a collection of tracks, some of which he's debuted while on a promotional tour for his latest novel Dead Men's Trousers.
He said that his music is injected with fun and humour, and serves as a "counterblast" to the current cohort of DJs who can make music at home on their laptops, but don't dance.
"It's not really banging, full-on mad stuff, but it's a lot of classic acid house — swirling effects and noises and boomy basslines," Welsh said. "Some of it is pretty groovy."
"Hopefully people are going to jump around and have a bop, but you're not going to have your ears bleeding," he added. "And you're not going to want to be stripped to the waist, salivating and banging your head off the floor."
Apparently, on one of the tracks, Welsh even sings in a German accent.
There's no word yet on when the album might see the light of day. The accompanying TV show, Ibiza87, is currently in production, though no release date has been confirmed.
Welsh's novel Porno, meanwhile, was made into a Trainspotting sequel last year.
