Since 2016, Toronto has provided performance opportunity to local artists through its "City Hall Live" concert series. Since social distancing guidelines will prevent crowds from gathering in Nathan Phillips Square for the foreseeable future, the city has now moved the series online.
In partnership with Unison Benevolent Fund, "City Hall Live" will run Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., with two shows per day until the end of June. You can find a complete performance itinerary here.
The series will see "more than 100 local artists...directly compensated for 30-minute performances from their homes," all of which will be streamed over Facebook Live.
The 2020 series began this afternoon with a performance from the Weather Station, which you can find below.
Other artists set to take part include Luna Li, TRP.P, Charlotte Cornfield, Colin MacDonald of the Trews, LAL, Mimi O'bonsawin and Digging Roots, in addition to programming from Venus Fest, Canada's Music Incubator, the Royal Conservatory and more.
