Torngat

Montreal QC October 3 to 7

Who knew instrumental post-rock could be crafted into such tight compositions? The Montreal trio have clearly matured in their song craft to a point where most of their peers seem long-winded and lazy by comparison. Horn-heavy, all three members took turns blowing the brass, amongst their other duties on keys, drums, electric harpsichord, and melodica, among others, many of which were played at the same time, or at least during the same song. Inventive arrangements and highly organic experimentation (trumpet played into the bell of a French horn in the middle of the crowd, for example) was anchored by Torngat’s incredibly memorable melodies and concise song structures.
