Black Sabbath have revisited some of their catalogue's greatest works in recent years with all manner of deluxe vinyl reissues, and according to guitarist Tony Iommi, there's more where those came from — to say nothing about a new solo album of his own.

Iommi dropped the tease in a New Year's video message to listeners, sharing how he's been at work on building a new recording studio that will surely inspire some new compositions.

"It's been a good year for me, 2022, in parts anyway. I've been writing and recording," Iommi shares in the clip [via Blabbermouth]. "I'm having a new studio built, which I'm really pleased about. Well, actually, the studio is built, and it's almost ready to go; I'm just waiting for some equipment. Because of the war [in Ukraine], it's sort of stopped some of the parts coming through. But we're almost there.

"In another couple of weeks, I think I'll be ready to go in and start work in there, which I'm really looking forward to — writing another album."

On the subject of reissues, Iommi shared that Black Sabbath's albums with vocalist Tony Martin — 1987's The Eternal Idol, 1989's Headless Cross, 1990's Tyr, 1994's Cross Purposes and 1995's Forbidden — would all be coming back into print, along with a reissue of his own solo debut, Iommi.

"Of course, we're gonna have the Tony Martin box set," he said. "And I'm looking forward to that, because a lot of people have asked about that, which is great. … And we've done 'em in succession … we've had all the original Sabbath stuff come out, box sets, and then we've got the Ronnie [James Dio] stuff. And then the next thing will be the Tony Martin and then my solo stuff. So it's gonna be busy again."

Released in 2000, Iommi found the guitar icon lining up to record original material alongside the likes of Henry Rollins, Dave Grohl, Queen's Brian May, Billy Corgan, the Cult's Ian Astbury, Serj Tankian, Type O Negative's Peter Steele, Soundgarden's Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron, his Sabbath bandmates Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward and more.

In 2020, Brian May hinted that music he recorded with Iommi could see release. The year after, Iommi released a new song (and fragrance) dubbed "Scent of Dark," standing as his first solo release since composing a classical piece for the Birmingham Cathedral in 2017, and first rock song since his work on Black Sabbath's final album 13.

Last year, Iommi appeared on Ozzy Osbourne's 13th solo LP, Patient Number 9. Watch his New Year's video message below.
