Tom Morello Reveals New Nightwatchman Album

While the news that Rage Against the Machine would not be recording a new album likely broke a lot of hard-rocking, politically minded hearts last month, that doesn't mean there won't be any new material from the band members. Guitarist Tom Morello recently released a new EP called Union Town from his Nightwatchman moniker, and now he's announced plans to follow that up with a new album.

In keeping with Morello's activist nature, the Nightwatchman full-length is called World Wide Rebel Songs, but it will mark a new direction for the project, as Morello has distanced himself from the acoustic sounds of his previous Nightwatchman work and enlisted a full band. The album's lead single, "Save the Hammer For the Man," even features Ben Harper on guitar and vocals.

In a statement via Rolling Stone, Morello said, "Troubled times call out for troubled songs... World Wide Rebel Songs is an album of rousing hopelessness and this time the Nightwatchman has brought along his electric guitar to tip the scales."

World Wide Rebel Songs will be available on August 30 via New West Records.
