After exploring rap-rock with Rage Against the Machine, acoustic protest music as the Nighwatchman and a huge pile of horseshit with Audioslave, Tom Morello is now looking to the world of EDM for his latest project, Atlas Underground.
Details are still developing, but Morello has unveiled an Atlas Underground website, as well as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. He also premiered a new, dance-music-flavoured piece titled "Battle Sirens" at last weekend's Ultra Music Festival in Miami alongside collaborators Knife Party.
You'll find a video of the live performance below.
Though it's unclear when studio recordings will arrive, other musicians involved with Morello's Atlas Underground are said to include Skrillex, Bassnectar, Cage the Elephant's Matt Shultz, GZA and X Ambassadors.
"Atlas Underground is not a band, it's a plan," Morello explained in a statement. "One part Marshall stack blowtorch heart and soul, one part Mecha-Godzilla titanium bass drop. Heaven help you all."
A recent Instagram post from White Lung singer Mish Way also suggests that she and Morello were working in the studio together. It's unclear if this is related to Atlas Underground, with the punk musician only clarifying that they weren't working on any White Lung material, but rather "something else."
