It's bad enough to wake up on a Monday morning for the average Joe, but if you're Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, this Monday is particularly brutal.
Back on 2004's American Idiot he asked us to "Wake Me Up When September Ends," so this morning — October 1 — he's been bombarded with a zillion reminders in the form of tweets and Instagram comments.
The lyrics weren't exactly meant to be taken so literally or treated so goofily. After all, they were dedicated to his late father, who died of cancer on September 1, 1982.
Since then, however, the song has inspired an eye-rolling annual meme up there with "May the 4th be with you." Below, you'll find just a small sampling of Billie Joe's waking hell today.
