Timber Timbre (aka Toronto songwriter Taylor Kirk) spent 2009 bumming everyone out with his depressing, but beautiful, self-titled album, earning himself a widespread following and scoring No. 4 on Exclaim!'s list of the best roots albums of the year.
In 2010, Kirk is looking to keep that momentum going and will be embarking upon a North American tour that includes numerous Canadian dates, plus appearances at SXSW and Canadian Music Week. During most of these shows, Kirk shares the bill with fellow folkies the Low Anthem.
After wrapping up his tour on this side of the Atlantic, Kirk will join Broken Social Scene on the road for a handful of European dates - his first ever on that continent.
As well as being the year Timber Timbre spreads his following across the ocean, perhaps 2010 will be the year we all finally figure out how to pronounce his band name. (Apparently, it's "timber tamber," so start spreading the word.)
