Thomas Hammann & Gerd Janson

Live at Robert Johnson

BY Marinko JarebPublished Jan 22, 2010

Thomas Hammann & Gerd Janson deliver a classic mix for the Live at Robert Johnson series by digging into the secret world of deep house from the early '90s and following that golden vein of groove until the present day. When big raves and intense trance and drum & bass were in fashion, a vibrant undercurrent of musicians continued creating house music for the rave generation. I'm referring specifically to Hawtin and Aquaviva's Definitive Recordings label from deepest Ontario and Chicago's Chez Damier, who recorded for Detroit's KMS. The vibe created by these techno-influenced post-housers is explored in this masterful mix by Hammann & Janson, which takes us from the not so distant past way back to 1992 with style and decisiveness.
