Whether you like it or not, Third Eye Blind's 1997 self-titled debut is a classic. In fact, it's so classic that one its most loved songs is now spawning an entire documentary film.

A documentary short film called Motorcycle Drive By — based on the Third Eye Blind power ballad of the same name — will premiere at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival.

The film is directed by David Wexler, and it promises to trace the backstory o "Motorcycle Drive By" — a song that almost didn't appear on Third Eye Blind's album due to label concerns.

"It never had anything," Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins says of the song's history in the film [via Rolling Stone]. "The only thing that has kept it alive and vibrant…is you guys."

Speaking of the complex and visually powerful song's meaning, Jenkins goes on to explain, "The object of your desire doesn't love you back. That urge to live, that urge to connect, even when it's unreciprocated, is redemptive."

Motorcycle Drive By will screen at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 17. A performance by Jenkins will follow the premiere.

As previously reported, Third Eye Blind are set to play the Sound of Music Festival kickoff event Live on the Lake in Burlington, ON, on June 13. You can learn more about the event here.
