Aussie children's band the Wiggles have announced a massive double-album covers project due early next year that will find them covering the likes of Queen, Fatboy Slim, James Brown, Rihanna and more, while teaming up with some of Australia's top artists for covers of Wiggles' songbook originals.
The two-part 25-track record — titled ReWiggled — is due to arrive on March 11, and features contributions by Stella Donnelly, the Chats, Melbourne Ska Orchestra, DZ Deathrays and more. The record will "celebrate both the enduring nature of the Wiggles' songbook, and also the Wiggles' own lifetime love of music," according to Australian publication The Music.
In addition to one of our favourite covers of the year (that would be the Wiggles' Triple J Like a Version cover of Tame Impala's "Elephant"), the record will also find the band covering Dropkick Murphys' "Shipping Up to Boston," the Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow," AC/DC's "Thunderstruck," Rihanna's "Umbrella," Blondie's "Sunday Girl" and many more.
Today, we're getting a preview of both sides of the album with the release of "Elephant," "Bohemian Rhapsody," Spacey Jane's take on "D.O.R.O.T.H.Y (My Favourite Dinosaur)," a cover of "Pub Feed" by the Chats, and the Chats covering "Can You (Point Your Fingers and Do the Twist?)."
