The Rolling Stones Confirm 'Hackney Diamonds,' First Album of New Material in 18 Years

The Rolling Stones haven't released an album of original material since 2005's A Bigger Bang, but that's set to change, since they've just confirmed plans for a new LP titled Hackney Diamonds.

UPDATE (9/6 10 a.m. ET): The Rolling Stones have confirmed that Hackney Diamonds will be out October 20. The first single is titled "Angry." Hear it below.

The album contains 12 songs and was recorded in studios in London, New York, Los Angeles and Nassau, Bahamas. Further details are still forthcoming.



The Stones haven't yet confirmed all the details of the album, but that's set to change on Wednesday (September 6), when they will officially announce Hackney Diamonds with a streamed event in the titular London neighbourhood of Hackney.

At the event, the band will be interviewed on stage by Jimmy Fallon. It will be streamed live on YouTube. This will take place at 2:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. ET). A teaser clip for the livestream is below.

The Rolling Stones had previously teased Hackney Diamonds with a cryptic newspaper ad.
