The Raconteurs Are Releasing a 3-Inch Single for Record Store Day

It appears that there will be a special Crosley turntable to play them

Proving that it's not the size that counts, but how you use it, Jack White's band the Raconteurs are going to be releasing a 3-inch single this Record Store Day. This will be part of a series of 3-inch singles, and it appears that there will even be a special Crosley turntable to play them.

In a Facebook post, Record Store Day showed an image of a tiny Raconteurs single on a tiny Crosley turntable. The caption promises:

#alittlesumthinsumthin coming to record stores on April 13 for #RSD19. The #RSD3 and a whole batch of 3" records.

That's the image above. As you can see if you squint close enough, the tiny record is for the song "Store Bought Bones" — which is a track from the Raconteurs 2006 album Broken Boy Soldiers, rather than one of their new songs.

This isn't the first time Jack White has released 3-inch records. In 2005, the White Stripes released a miniature record player called a "Triple Inchophone," along with a series of 3-inches. They now fetch a pretty penny through online marketplaces. In addition to Jack White, there have also been some tiny records released in Japan.

It remains to be seen what other 3-inch records will be released on Record Store Day. Jack White and his label Third Man Records have typically had a close relationship with RSD, so it seems fairly likely that the label may have more releases.

Record Store Day 2019 is on April 13.
