Thao & the Get Down Stay Down have broken up, as longtime band members Thao Nguyen and Adam Thompson have announced that they are parting ways.

The band led by Thao Nguyen formed in 2003. They were initially based in Virginia and later moved to San Francisco. All told, they released five full-length albums, most recently 2020's Temple.
They had a rotating lineup of different members over the years, with Nguyen and Thompson serving as the only continuous members throughout the band's run.
Nguyen has released just one solo album, 2005's Like the Linen, as well as a 2005 album with Mirah.
