Texas DJ Raising Funds to "Purchase" Dave Grohl

Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl seems like one of the most down-to-earth, jovial dudes in rock, the kind of guy you might run into at a party who would greet you with a righteous, heartily slapped high-five. That's exactly the kind of skin-on-skin action a Texas DJ is hoping he can tap into with his scheme to, uh, buy the musician.

As the BBC points out, Rock 108 DJ Frank Pain has started a crowdfunding campaign titled "Help Me Purchase Dave Grohl," with which he hopes to raise $35,000 US to give to Grohl so they can just hang around and shoot the shit.

"I'm his biggest fan and figured I can round up enough scratch to purchase him so we can hang out and high five and shit. Heck, I may give him a bro-hug or two as well," he wrote.

Pain added: "I'm not 100% the amount I'm asking for will buy him. Hell, I'm not even sure if it's legal to purchase another human being without being some central part of a 20/20 tv special. But, I figured it wouldn't hurt to try, right?"

The proposal goes on to note that "everyone has their hands out these days," suggesting the DJ is critiquing crowdsourcing culture, but that's not stopping people from supporting his cause.

"I'm all for supporting the arts, specifically the art of Rock n Roll," a $5 contributor named Brandi Dilligaf posted on the page, "if all else fails then I bought you a beer!"

A supporter named Jason Mayes also coughed up a fiver for Pain, while also suggesting he pass the word along to Grohl that he's selling a "perfect" motorcycle on Craigslist.

All told, it's looking unlikely that Pain will raise the full amount any time soon, with the total so far hovering at just under $450. This may temporarily throw a monkey wrench in his purchasing plans, but if you're willing to throw down some funds, you can find out more details here.

Dave Grohl has yet to comment on Pain's fundraiser.
