Earlier this year, Ted Leo launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund his first solo album since 2010's The Brutalist Bricks. Today (July 6), he's shared the first song and all of the details from the new release.
The album is called The Hanged Man, and it's another DIY affair for the decidedly DIY musician. The release was recorded by Leo at his home studio, where he played the majority of its instruments. The album will be self-released on September 8.
Ahead of its arrival, Leo has shared the album's first single "You're Like Me." In a lengthy and highly personal interview with Stereogum, Leo revealed that the song is the first time he's ever written about being sexually abused as a boy.
"It's [about] being someone who has your world turned around in a way that places you outside the sort of normal flow of life and events," he said. "It's [about] acknowledging those people as well."
