Talkdemonic

Eyes at Half Mast

With a name like Talkdemonic, you’d expect this band to be some sort of church burning Norwegian black metalers. To the contrary, Talkdemonic are the duo of Kevin O'Connor and Lisa Molinaro, two multi-instrumentalists from Portland who play a low-key crossbreed of electronic music and post-rock. Eyes At Half Mast, their third full-length, expands their ideas into wonderful sound suites, like Four Tet jamming with the Album Leaf. A hearty banjo leads the celebratory "Ending the Orange Glow” and a heavy break-beat drives the synths and violin of "Shattered Into Dyes.” However, the album is most striking in its softest moments, as on "Tides In Their Grave.”
