Thanks to the long-awaited trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, Tom Petty is getting his "Running Up That Hill"/Stranger Things moment. After being featured in the preview of the video game, streams of "Love Is a Long Road" have grown exponentially.

According to data provided by streaming overlords Spotify, the track has seen a "huge streaming increase of 36,979 percent" since the release of the trailer.

Though media has always been an avenue to rediscover old favourites, the youths are getting their music education at a whiplash-inducing rate. Besides the zoomerfication of Kate Bush, Linda Rondstadt got her flowers when "Long Long Time" was featured in The Last of Us. Of course, "Push" by Matchbox Twenty also had a renewed moment after the Barbie movie.

Besides the Pettyssance, the GTA VI trailer introduced the franchise's first-ever woman protagonist, Lucia, and revealed that the game will once again be set in Vice City. If we get that '80s radio station from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City again, who knows who will get their second wind when the game drops in 2025?
