Patrick Watson has flexed his film-scoring prowess once again, this time composing original music for The 9th Life of Louis Drax. The soundtrack officially arrives on September 2 via Varese Sarabande, but Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive early listen to it in its entirety right now.

As previously reported, the film follows the story of a neurologist exploring a young boy's unconscious mind. It was directed by Alexandre Aja and stars Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon, Aaron Paul, Aiden Longworth, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker and Barbara Hershey.

The soundtrack work from Watson follows his previous forays into film music on short, feature and documentary projects like Gravity Boy, Cochemare, The Flood, Les 4 Soldats and A St-Henri, le 26 Aout.

"The instrumentation is pretty classic orchestra for this film with some exceptions of prepared muted pianos," Watson tells Exclaim! "For some scenes I did some electronic treatment to the recordings; nothing super unorthodox. The melodies and orchestration was where the colour came from and my orchestrator Jules Buckley is fantastic so I would say he did a great job on this film."

Watson recently gave us a glimpse into the forthcoming soundtrack with "Clouds," but now you can hear the entire 17-track offering in the player below. The album is currently available for pre-order via Amazon and iTunes.
