Patrick Watson Premieres "Clouds" from 'The 9th Life of Louis Drax' Soundtrack

As previously reported, Montreal singer-songwriter Patrick Watson composed the score for upcoming supernatural drama The 9th Life of Louis Drax. Before the musical accompaniment gets a proper release, though, Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive first listen to "Clouds" from the upcoming OST.

The film was directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, High Tension) and stars Jamie Dornan, Sarah Gadon, Aaron Paul, Aiden Longworth, Oliver Platt, Molly Parker and Barbara Hershey, telling the story of a neurologist's explorations into a young boy's unconscious mind.

It's not Watson's first foray into the world of film, either. He has previously contributed music to shorts like Gravity Boy and Cochemare, as well as feature-length projects The Flood and Les 4 Soldats, and the documentary A St-Henri, le 26 Aout.

"Clouds" marks the first full-length track to surface from Watson's latest score, following sonic snippets heard in the trailer. As the title implies, the piece is an airy affair.

"I believe [Aja] needed music that was able to help support the dream states in the film," Watson tells Exclaim!, explaining the otherworldly quality of the music.

"This is my first soundtrack that I have released," he continues. "I'm super excited to release a proper score."

The original motion picture soundtrack for The 9th Life of Louis Drax officially arrives on September 2 via Varese Sarabande. Listen to "Clouds" below.
