Stone Temple Pilots Announce 'High Rise' EP with Chester Bennington

In news that's sure to infuriate Scott Weiland, alt-rock old-timers Stone Temple Pilots have announced an EP featuring their new singer, Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. High Rise is out on October 8 through 13Star Records.

The five-song collection includes the successful recent single "Out of Time," which is streaming at the bottom of this page. A full tracklist has yet not emerge, but another of the new tunes is called "Tomorrow." That's the cover artwork up above.

It's worth pointing out that the EP is billed as "Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington," thus implying that this is a different incarnation of the group than the one who produced hits like "Vasoline," "Interstate Love Song," "Plush" and "Sour Girl." (This is a bit like the time Sublime changed their name to Sublime with Rome.)

STP have, of course, been involved in a legal battle with Weiland over ownership of the name, with both the band and their ex-singer issuing lawsuits.
