Steven Lambke has been giving fans memorable musical experiences for years thanks to his work with Constantines, Baby Eagle and his own solo material, not to mention running You've Changed Records. Now he's bringing his wealth of experience to one of Canada's most beloved summer music festivals.

Lambke has been named the new creative director for the Sackville, NB-based SappyFest, just in time for the festival's 12th annual instalment.

"Since 2006, SappyFest has been a haven for independent musicians, for poets, punks, and artists of all types," Lambke said in a statement about the new role. "It's been a place where the usual measures of success and failure can be put aside for more humane, tender-hearted, and inclusive efforts. I look forward to working with SappyFest, and the community of Sackville, as we continue to set a stage for wonderful musical performances, surprising art, literary adventures, and a little summertime swamp magic."

Joni Fleck Andrews, president of the fest's board of directors reciprocated the kind words, saying: "He has much to offer our organization and has arrived with well-developed and progressive ideas that have the true heart of SappyFest in mind. We could not be luckier to welcome a person with his experience, determination and warmth to our team."

SappyFest will return to Sackville from August 4 to 6 this year, and early bird passes are already on sale. Stay tuned for details on this year's lineup.
