Spoon Reveal New Album 'Hot Thoughts'

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Jan 10, 2017

Despite not yet actually announcing an album, Spoon have made it painfully clear they have a new record heading our way. They've been teasing it online, talking about it in interviews and even showing it off at semi-secret shows. Now we're getting something solid: the album is called Hot Thoughts, and it's reportedly due out March 17 via Matador Records.

The news comes via the band themselves during an interview on the SiriusXM radio show Debatable, Consequence of Sound points out. In fact, you can even listen to that interview for yourself here on Tumblr.

As you'll hear, Spoon make it clear the new album is indeed called Hot Thoughts, though they are a bit more coy when it comes to the actual release date. The date of March 17 is blurted out during the interview, but they only really confirm the album is set to arrive in time of SXSW in March. And yes, the band say they will be performing at the hometown festival.

While we await more details, you can check out some clips of new songs debuted at Spoon's sorta secret show this weekend in Austin.

Hot Thoughts will mark the follow-up to 2014's They Want My Soul.
