Sorry, Detroit, Nickelback Still Playing Lions Game Despite Protests

Bad news, Detroit Lions fans: Nickelback are still playing your halftime show. While a few weeks back a group of Motor City football enthusiasts started up a petition to block the BC hard rockers from performing during halftime at the team's Thanksgiving Day match-up against the Green bay Packers, it looks as if the hubbub was all for naught. A press release confirms that Chad Kroeger and co. are set to show up on November 24. Sorry, guys.

"We are honoured to perform at the United Way halftime show on Thanksgiving Day," Kroeger said in the statement. "We always love playing in Detroit. Our fans there have been tremendously supportive of us through the years and we can't wait to come back and celebrate an exciting day for the Lions and the city of Detroit."

While the petition, which centred on the argument "Does anyone even like Nickelback?", was ultimately unsuccessful, anyone rueing the performance can take some solace in the fact that the bro-rockers will be spoiling a game up north too. Nickelback continue the halftime tour a couple days later (November 27) at the 99th Grey Cup, which is being held in Vancouver at BC Place. Great.
