Smash Mouth Frontman Loses It Onstage After Being Pelted with Bread

Smash Mouth are best known for their family-friendly pop anthem "All-Star," but fans who saw them at Colorado's Taste of Fort Collins festival were treated to something decidedly more PG-13 than usual. This was due to frontman Steve Harwell going on an expletive-filled tirade against the crowd after being pelted with slices of bread.

Why bread? Well, loaves of bread were apparently being given away for free from one of the vendors at the festival. A few attendees began throwing bread in the air, and Harwell found himself asking "why can't we be friends?" after a few slices landed on stage.

"You throw one more piece of shit on the fucking stage, I'm going to come find your ass, I'm going to beat your ass, whoever the fuck you are out there out there," the singer warned the crowd. After repeatedly goading the throwers to join him on stage, he continued, "I will beat the fuck out of you. You're a pussy punk bitch."

Harwell began daring people to throw more bread at him, and he moved aggressively towards the audience before being restrained and leaving the stage. Rather bizarrely, all this took place while Harwell's bandmates were playing the chords to "All-Star," and the incident culminated in a massive singalong of the well-known hit. Apparently Harwell ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.
