Slowdive Reveal Their First New Song in 22 Years

After reuniting back in 2014, Slowdive have been hinting at a new record — but they really got the rumours swirling at full-speed with a cryptic video teaser just yesterday (January 11). Now, the band have unveiled their first single in 22 years.

Titled "Star Roving," the track arrives courtesy of the band's new label home Dead Oceans. Frontman Neil Halstead has shared a statement about the latest offering, which reads:

When the band decided to get back together in 2014, we really wanted to make new music. It's taken us a whole load of shows and a few false starts to get to that point, but it's with pride and a certain trepidation we unleash "Star Roving." It's part of a bunch of new tracks we've been working on and it feels as fun, and as relevant playing together now as it did when we first started. We hope folks enjoy it.

Hazy vocals, ringing guitars and rapid percussion blend together in a shoegaze-y swirl of sound, and you can judge for yourself just how fun and relevant the new track is by giving it a listen below.

Slowdive's last album, Pygmalion, was released in 1995.
