Calgary's annual music, arts and film festival Sled Island is set to celebrate a major milestone this year with its 10th edition. To help ring it in, organizers have just announced their guest curator.
This year's curator will be none other than Canadian musician and performance artist Peaches (a.k.a. Merrill Beth Nisker).
As a press release puts it, the guest curator means she'll "set the direction and tone of the festival through specialized programming choices." She'll also be in attendance, meaning she'll perform as well. She'll headline Flames Central on June 25.
In previous years, Sled Island's guest curators have included Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Kathleen Hanna, John Dwyer, Tim Hecker, Andrew W.K. and others.
Sled Island runs from June 22 to 26. The first batch of artists will be announced on February 9.
