Last year, Skrillex cancelled his "Full Flex Express" train tour, and while the producer has said that he plans to bring back the multi-artist outing in 2014, any return of the fest is still unconfirmed. In the meantime, the EDM superstar has announced a batch of North American dates for spring and early summer.
Following a few festival stops, Skrillex will kick off his so-called "Mothership Tour 2014" in May. During the trek, he'll come through Canada for a two-night stand at TD Echo Beach in Toronto on May 30 and 31.
These Toronto gigs feature openers Dillon Francis, What So Not, and Milo & Otis, while some of the other dates swap out Dillon Francis for DJ Snake.
Meanwhile, Skrillex recently released a new app called Alien Ride, which is an asteroid-style game for iOS or Android. Some folks on Reddit [via FACT] have discovered that Alien Ride includes some hidden code, which indicates that 11 new songs may be released digitally in the next couple of days. In other words, this might mean that Skrillex is finally releasing a proper debut album.
UPDATE: Well, it turns out Skrillex indeed has a new record in the works, and it's called Recess. He's unveiling the release track-by-track via the Alien Ride app, and as of press time, you can check out most of it below. Recess is reportedly due out March 18 and pre-orders are to arrive on iTunes shortly. It features guests such as Diplo, Zedd, Chance the Rapper, Alvin Risk, Ragga Twins, Fatman Scoop and Kill the Noise.
