Silverstein Announce 'This Is How the Wind Shifts' Concept Album, North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Nov 27, 2012

While Burlington, ON's Silverstein delivered their 22-track, half-originals/half-covers set Short Songs earlier this year, the post-hardcore unit have announced the proper follow-up to 2011's Rescue. It's a concept album called This Is How the Wind Shifts, and it will hit retailers February 5 through Universal Music Canada/Hopeless.

A press release for the set confirms that the 14-track outing follows a series of shared narratives, with singer Shane Told explaining in a statement that the record is about "how a person's life can change forever with just one event. It is the 'what if' that everyone thinks about from time to time."

He added that the record doesn't exactly string together from point A to point B, though, and consists of a series of parallel songs that fit together to tell "the story in a different light, what would have happened if things were different due to a single event."

He continued, "Overall, the point of this album is not to prove the existence of fate, or to disprove it. It's a discussion of life, of loss, of trial and error, of success within failure, of failure within success, of the struggle between your actions and your feelings, and how those don't always go together. This Is How The Wind Shifts is a journey that jumps around but stays cohesive, with underlying meaning and stories that have a real human meaning and cater to the soul."

While the album will be available in traditional CD, LP and digital forms, the band also have a number of pre-order packages available, including a 7-inch box set pairing each parallel one-two punch together, and deluxe sets with T-shirts, posters and autographed merch. You can get the pre-order details over here.
