Burlington post-hardcore lifers Silverstein are just about to start their 10th anniversary trip celebrating Discovering the Waterfront, but the band will bring themselves back to modern times this spring via the release of their next proper LP. The set has been dubbed I Am Alive in Everything I Touch, and it arrives May 19 through New Damage/Rise Records.
As previously reported, this will be Silverstein's debut for the imprints. The 12-song set was tracked at Toronto's Metal Works studio with producer Jordan Valeriote (Skynet, Horizons), and a press release explains that it takes on a globally minded theme. The record is split up into four sections — "Borealis" (North), "Austeralis" (South), "Zephyrus" (West) and "Eurus" (East) — with each track being set in a different city or region. Tying the concept together, field recordings captured at each location have also been threaded into the arrangements.
"All the city clips we recorded, the transitions, and making sure the concept really worked and told this story of loneliness despite being surrounded by so much excitement," frontman Shane Told said in a statement. "As much as I've put myself out there over all the records we've done, there's something more real about this one. At times I almost stopped myself and said, is this going too far? Am I going to say something I'm going to regret? And after taking a step back and a few breaks from writing, I decided I needed to do this."
The band have premiered the first, pun-fully titled single "A Midwestern State of Emergency" in a music video. You'll find the clip, as well as I Am Alive in Everything I Touch's tracklisting and their upcoming tour dates, down below.
